Are you a resilient, empathetic individual looking for a rewarding education role in Plymouth? Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term contract within a leading Alternative Provision.
This is not a traditional classroom role. You will act as a mentor, advocate, and educator for young people facing complex barriers to education, helping them re-engage and thrive.
Key Responsibilities As An SEN TA
- Alternative Provision Support: Provide high-quality tailored support to young people outside of mainstream education settings.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, social workers, and other professionals to create a holistic support network for the young person.
- Re-integration Strategies: Help identify, trial, and implement bespoke behavioural and learning strategies designed to successfully transition the young person back into the classroom.
- Mentorship: Build strong, trusting relationships with students to boost their confidence, self-esteem, and emotional resilience.

Job Requirements
- Driving License (Essential): A full, valid UK driving license is mandatory for this role to assist with community access or student transport.
- Experience (Desirable): Experience working with young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, or within an SEN environment is highly desirable.
- Key Skills: High emotional intelligence, patience, excellent communication skills, and a non-judgemental approach to behaviour management.
