SEMH Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant
About The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and committed SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Portsmouth. This full-time, term-time position involves supporting students who need additional emotional and educational guidance to thrive in their learning environment.
Key Responsibilities as a SEN Teaching Assistant
- As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will support students with SEMH needs in both classroom and one-to-one settings
- As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will assist teachers in delivering tailored learning plans and strategies
- As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will build positive relationships and offer consistent emotional support
- As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will support students social, emotional, and behavioural development

- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (highly desirable)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Must be a confident driver with access to a vehicle (essential)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
