Esland’s Grantham School is seeking a proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in September 2026 to address increased pupil needs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with class teachers to support students aged 8–18 with SEMH needs.
  • Help deliver a fun, functional curriculum, often in one-to-one or small-group settings.
  • Address individuals who may have experienced trauma and display challenging behaviours.
  • Require empathy, resilience, and a trauma-informed approach to create a supportive learning environment.

Salary & Details

  • £23,520 – £26,358 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
  • Full-time contract, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 4:30pm)
  • Closes: Friday, 10th July 2026
  • Interviews: Week commencing 13th July 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)/SEMH requirements
  • Work with pupils experiencing EBSA (Emotional-Based School Avoidance)
  • Foster an inclusive, empathetic, and trauma-informed environment
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement behaviour management strategies
  • Apply foundational knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and National Curriculum standards
  • Use ICT tools to enhance learning outcomes

Requirements & Compliance

  • Experience supporting children with SEND/SEMH needs
  • Familiarity with psychosocial strategies and trauma-informed approaches
  • Ability to empathise, problem-solve, and work collaboratively in a team
  • Basic ICT skills for learning assistance
  • Meeting UK government disclosure and reference checks, including:
    • Full Enhanced DBS
    • Satisfactory ‘Right to Work’
    • Compliance with Safer Recruitment Practices
