SEN Teaching Assistant

SEMH Teaching Assistant: Worthing

Salary: £93–£100 per day (12-week placement) | £22,000–£23,500 per annum (upon permanent transfer)

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15am–3:30pm


About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential?

We are recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Worthing, supporting primary and secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This specialist setting provides a nurturing and supportive environment for pupils with SEMH needs. With small class sizes, a personalised approach to learning, and a strong focus on wellbeing, our staff work together to help young people build confidence, resilience, and positive outcomes.

The Role

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in and out of the classroom
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in learning
  • Build strong relationships and act as a positive role model
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils succeed

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or similar)
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (required)
  • Right to work in the UK (or valid visa)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for helping others
