SEN Teaching Assistant
About the Role
Trewirgie Junior School is seeking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our junior school team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting high-quality teaching, learning, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing across the school.
Working under the direction of teachers and senior leaders, the SEN TA will:
- Deliver agreed learning activities
- Support an individual child with SEND
Responsibilities
- Support the planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities for an individual
- Promote positive behaviour, independence, resilience and excellent attitudes to learning
- Build respectful and supportive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and carers
- Provide clear feedback to teachers about pupils’ progress, understanding, misconceptions, and next steps
- Contribute to the wider life, ethos, and values of Trewirgie Junior School

Requirements
Applicants should have:
- At least three years’ experience of working with pupils in a learning environment
- GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent evidence of literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience of supporting pupils with SEND, pastoral needs, or targeted interventions
- Good communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
- Secure knowledge of how to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing, behaviour and inclusion
- Confidence using technology to support teaching and learning
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, professional conduct, and ongoing professional development
