SEN Tutor Jobs in Medway – Flexible 1:1 Tuition Support
About the Role Rikama Education partners with Kent County Council, delivering specialised 1:1 SEN tuition across Kent—including in Medway. We are seeking dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Tutors to support Children and Young People (CYP) (aged 0–25) with SEND, in home-based or virtual settings.
This role is ideal for:
- Qualified teachers (QTS/QTLS preferred)
- Experienced SEN specialists or intervention professionals
- Those seeking flexible, impactful work with EHCP-based interventions.
The Role
As a SEN Tutor, you’ll provide personalised, structured 1:1 tuition (typically 10–20 hours per week) aligned to a learner’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or care package. Your work will often overlap with **parents, multi-agency teams, and Medway L (;el Services. Key responsibilities include:

Core Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted 1:1 SEN tuition in Medway (home-based or virtual).
- Support CYP with EHCPs and complex additional needs, including:
- Autism (ASD)
- ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
- Anxiety/EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
- Moderate learning difficulties
- Medical/complex learning profiles
- Plan and differentiate lessons to meet individual goals, using ** Kent County Council-recommended methodologies**.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils and their families.
- Submit progress reports in line with council requirements.
- Collaborate with experts (e.g., CAMHS, occupational therapists, speech & language therapists).
Requirements
To apply for this position, you must have:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS (preferred) OR
- Substantial prior experience as an SENTutor, intervention teacher, or supporting children with SEND.
- Proven 1:1 tuition or alternative provision experience.
- Strong behaviour management and differentiation skills tailored to SEND.
- An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check (on the Update Service) or commitment to obtain one.
