SEN Tutor
SEN Tutor – Maidstone (Recruitment by Rikama Education)
Rikama Education partners with Kent County Council, delivering specialist 1:1 SEN tuition support to Children and Young People (CYP) across Kent. We are recruiting dedicated SEN Tutors based in Maidstone, providing both in-person (home-based) and virtual tuition to enhance the learning journeys of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This role is perfect for qualified teachers or experienced SEN specialists, offering a flexible, impact-driven opportunity to make a real difference.
Role Overview
As an SEN Tutor, you will deliver 10–20 hours of weekly tuition per student to either supplement their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or as part of a care package. You’ll work closely with parents, multi-agency teams, and Kent County Council professionals to ensure tailored, high-quality individualised learning support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured 1:1 SEN sessions (either home-based or virtually) in Medway/Maidstone areas.
- Support learners with EHCPs, complex additional needs, and SEND requirements.
- Design, adapt, and deliver personalised, differentiated lessons aligned with individual learning goals.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and their families.
- Prepare and submit progress reports for Kent County Council as part of compliance requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate: ✔ QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS (preferred, but flexible experience accepted). ✔ Substantial 1:1 teaching experience, preferably in SEN Alternative Provision. ✔ Strong intervention skills and ability to effectively differentiate learning. ✔ Expertise in behaviour management, especially in challenging scenarios. ✔ Enhanced DBS Clearance (on the Update Service), or a commitment to obtaining one.
