Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) – Deykin Avenue Junior & Infant School & Slade Primary School

About the Role

Are you an experienced and passionate teacher with a commitment to ensuring every child can thrive? We are seeking an inspiring and knowledgeable Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to lead and develop inclusive practice across two welcoming and ambitious primary schools:

  • Deykin Avenue Junior & Infant School
  • Slade Primary School

This is a non-teaching position, allowing you to focus full-time on developing high-quality SEND provision, supporting staff, pupils, and families to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities

As the SENCo, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating SEND provision across both schools
  • Ensuring pupils with additional needs receive high-quality, inclusive support that enables them to thrive
  • Working closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, and external agencies to develop effect
  • Championing inclusive teaching and learning while meeting all statutory SEND responsibilities
  • Supporting and coaching colleagues to develop confidence and expertise in meeting diverse learning needs
  • Building positive relationships with parents and carers, recognising their essential role in their child’s education
  • Monitoring intervention impact and using evidence to drive continuous improvement
  • Providing strategic leadership for SEND without teaching duties, ensuring inclusive excellence across both schools

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified teacher with successful classroom experience
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, the National Award for SEN Coordination (if required)
  • Has a strong understanding of SEND legislation, best practice, and guidance
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Shows a proven track record in improving outcomes for students with additional needs
  • Is committed to inclusion, high expectations, and student wellbeing
