SEND 1:1 Tutor - Somerset

SEND Mentors, Tutors & Support Workers – Taunton, Somerset

Quantum Scholars is expanding its Alternative Provision services across Somerset and is building a network of SEND Tutors, Mentors, LSAs, Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Youth Workers, Pastoral Support Staff, and Support Workers across Taunton and the surrounding area.

With a significant increase in referrals anticipated from September 2026, we are keen to hear from candidates looking to secure flexible and rewarding opportunities for the new academic year.

Many of the young people Quantum Scholars supports are currently unable to access mainstream education and may have needs relating to:

  • SEND
  • SEMH
  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Medical conditions
  • Behavioural challenges
  • EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 support tailored to the needs of learners aged primary and secondary school.
  • Provide mentoring, tutoring, and behavioural support in the student's home or suitable community settings, with occasional online opportunities.
  • Ensure flexible and adaptable support, working around local demand and your availability.

Qualities & Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience supporting children or young people.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach to varying learning and behavioural needs.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Ability to travel across Taunton and surrounding areas (preferably with access to a vehicle).
