SEND 1:1 Tutor – Somerset

Quantum Scholars – SEND Mentors, Tutors & Support Workers (Taunton, Somerset)

Quantum Scholars is expanding its Alternative Provision services across Somerset and is building a network of SEND Tutors, Mentors, LSAs, Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Youth Workers, Pastoral Support Staff, and Support Workers across Taunton and the surrounding area.

With a significant increase in referrals anticipated from September 2026, we are keen to hear from candidates looking to secure flexible and rewarding opportunities for the new academic year.

Our young people often struggle to access mainstream education and may have needs relating to:

  • SEND
  • SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health)
  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Medical conditions
  • Behavioural challenges
  • EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)

Role Overview

Support is delivered on a 1:1 basis with both primary and secondary-aged students. We aim to match you with the age groups and types of students you feel most confident supporting.

  • Most sessions take place:
    • Face-to-face in a student’s home
    • In a suitable community setting
  • Occasional online opportunities available where appropriate

Hours & Flexibility

Opportunities are flexible and based on your availability and local demand. You could work:

  • A few hours per week
  • Regular assignments (potentially full-time over time)

What We’re Looking For

To provide the best support to learners, we seek candidates with:

  • Experience supporting children or young people
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to travel across Taunton and the surrounding area
