About Woodlands School

Woodlands School, part of Bourne Education Trust, is an outstanding special school based in Leatherhead, Surrey. Our educational approach focuses on preparation for life, with communication and literacy at the heart of everything we do - promoting independence, community inclusion, and a curiosity about the world.

Our satellite provision in Esher caters for pupils who are autistic and have learning difficulties, offering them a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment where they can thrive. Details

Job title: SEND Class Teacher

Location: This role is based at Woodlands satellite site, Cranmere Primary School, Esher, Surrey with occasional travel across East Surrey and to Woodlands School (Leatherhead).

Hours: Full time, 32.5 hours per week. Part-time (2 days p/week) also available

Contract: Fixed-term for 1 year (1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027)

Salary: Teachers Main to Upper Pay Scale (Fringe) £34,398 - £52,490 and SEN allowance

Responsible to: Headteacher

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability of the individuals and classes you teach, preparing and developing teaching materials, programmes, and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
  • Be accountable for the attainment, progress, and outcomes of all pupils within your class/es, planning effectively to ensure that pupils have the opportunity to meet their potential
  • Be aware of pupils’ capabilities, planning effectively to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and work in collaboration with the SENCo to make an appropriate contribution to and participate in the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and review of SEN Support Arrangements

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
