Specialist Assessor (Exam Access Arrangements) – SEND – Peterborough College
Are you a qualified Specialist Assessor looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to students' educational journeys?
We’re looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic SEND EAA Specialist Assessor to join our growing Additional Learning Support team at Peterborough College.
Key Details:
- Role: SEND EAA Specialist Assessor (part-time)
- Hours: 30 hours per week (term time only, 40 weeks per year)
- Location: Based at Peterborough College, with occasional travel to Stamford College
About the Role
An exciting opportunity to combine specialist assessment expertise with teaching and learner support, helping students with SEN (Special Educational Needs) overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
You’ll work within our collaborative SEND team, valued for inclusion, innovation, and student success.
Key Responsibilities
As the SEND EAA Specialist Assessor, you’ll be responsible for:
- Conducting specialist assessments for Exam Access Arrangements (EAA), ensuring compliance with JCQ regulations.
- Writing and submitting assessment reports and documentation, including Form 8, along with supporting evidence.
- Reviewing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), learner support plans, and individual student information to ensure appropriate EAA arrangements are identified.
- Delivering engaging teaching and specialised support through one-to-one sessions, small group work, and classroom instruction.
- Helping students develop study skills, confidence, and independence.
- Providing guidance to teaching staff on inclusive strategies to remove learning barriers.
- Delivering professional training and knowledge-sharing sessions for colleagues.
- Maintaining accurate learner records and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and funding requirements.

What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for candidates who:
- Hold a recognised Specialist Assessor qualification for Exam Access Arrangements, such as:
- TAQA qualification with EAA, or an equivalent degree-level qualification.
- Have practical experience in carrying out specialist assessments and producing high-quality assessment reports.
- Have a passion for supporting students with SEND to fulfil their potential.
- Have experience in delivering teaching or specialist interventions to young people or adults.
- Are committed to building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Have strong organisational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Embrace and promote inclusive practices within an educational context.
