Alternative Provision | EOTAS | 1:1 Support | Flexible Working | September 2026
Quantum Scholars is expanding its Alternative Provision services across Somerset and is seeking dedicated SEND Academic Mentors to support learners across Yeovil and the surrounding areas.
With a significant increase in Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS) and Alternative Provision referrals expected from September 2026, we're looking for compassionate, reliable professionals who are passionate about helping children and young people with additional needs re-engage with education.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to provide personalised 1:1 academic and pastoral support, empowering learners to build confidence, overcome barriers to learning, and achieve meaningful progress.
About The Role
As a SEND Primary and Secondary Tutor, you will work on a 1:1 basis with primary and secondary-aged pupils (5-16 years) who are currently unable to access mainstream education.
Every learner is different, so you'll tailor your approach to meet their individual academic, emotional, and social needs. Alongside supporting learning, you'll play a key role in building positive relationships, encouraging engagement, developing confidence, and creating a safe, supportive environment where each young person can thrive.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
