Randstad Education is currently seeking passionate, patient, and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistants to support mainstream primary schools across the Leeds area. This supply role offers the perfect balance of flexibility and purpose, allowing you to assist pupils with diverse needs (including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and global developmental delay) within supportive mainstream environments.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this specialist supply role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Recent UK Primary School Experience: You must have recent, practical experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant within a UK primary school.
- Proven SEND Experience: Solid, hands-on experience supporting primary-aged children with SEND (such as Autism, ADHD, Downs Syndrome, or physical disabilities) in either a 1:1 or small group capacity.
- Adaptable Communication and Support Skills: Competence in adapting learning materials and using communication tools (such as visual timetables, PECS, or basic Makaton) to help pupils access the mainstream curriculum.
- Safeguarding Compliance: A valid, enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness for a new one through Randstad).
- A Patient, Nurturing Approach: The emotional resilience, empathy, and proactive nature required to support pupils with additional needs, alongside the ability to blend seamlessly into different school teams.
