SEND Sufficiency Project Officer - FTC for 12 months
SEND Sufficiency Project Officer
(37 hours per week, fixed 12-month contract)
Starting salary: £39,152 (pro rata for part-time colleagues)

About the Role
This forward-thinking, one-year fixed-term position supports the development of BCP’s SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and Alternative Provision (AP) Sufficiency Strategy. Situated within a transformative plan to redefine SEND and AP services, the SEND Sufficiency Project Officer will collaborate with key teams to develop innovative models of provision, ensuring tailored solutions for children and young people in BCP.
Main Responsibilities

Project Coordination:
- Lead cross-service SEND and AP Sufficiency projects, ensuring high-quality outputs.
- Coach colleagues in project planning, execution, and governance.
- Model cultural curiosity, creativity, and adaptability to drive change and improve customer experience.

Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Analyse joint strategic needs assessments and contribute to evidence-based decision-making.
- Justify resource allocation using short- and long-term projections (5–10 years).
- Streamline workflows, monitor metrics, and mitigate risks to ensure project success.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Build partnerships with education, commissioning, social care, health, and private/voluntary sectors.
- Commission innovative, sustainable SEND services tailored to diverse needs.

Strategic Advice & Compliance:
- Interpret business cases and recommend solutions to meet SEND recovery targets.
- Maintain expertise in legal, regulatory, and best-practice frameworks.
- Develop procedures aligned with national/local indicators.

Risk & Complex Case Management:
- Proactively manage complex caseloads, providing specialist guidance and mitigating barriers.
- Resolve contentious challenges with analytical clarity and proactive risk management.

Organisational Support: Foster inclusion, champion equitable solutions, and document policy improvements.

Resilience & Workload: Adapt to shifting priorities, meet tight deadlines, and respond dynamically to customer needs.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Relevant degree (or equivalent) with continuous professional development.
- Authoritative SEND knowledge and passion for sufficiency strategy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and relevant I.T. tools.
