SEND Teacher (English Specialist)
Location: Guildford, Surrey
Start Date: 1 September 2026
Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed Term - 1 Year Contract to Permanent (if it's the right fit for you & the school)
Salary: MPS PayScale (£34,397 to £46,838 per annum)
Join this vibrant and ambitious SEND department as we seek a committed and inspiring English specialist to help shape the future of students.
At this Secondary Mainstream school, there's an impressive SEND Hub provision tailored to meet the needs of students through targeted intervention spaces for lower school Nurture Groups and an EBSNA Group. This role will focus primarily on delivering high-quality English teaching and intervention to students with SEND, working outside of mainstream lessons through small group and 1:1 provision.

SEND Teacher (English Specialist)
About the Role:
- Deliver engaging English intervention through 1:1 and small group teaching within The Hub.
- Adapt learning to meet a range of SEND needs, including students with EHCPs.
- Support KS3 and KS4 students working below age-related expectations, including GCSE English and Functional Skills preparation.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that builds confidence and resilience.
- Monitor student progress and provide targeted feedback and support.
- Work collaboratively with the Deputy SENCO, Progress Mentors and English department to support student success.
- Contribute to the continued development of The Hub and wider SEND provision.
About You
- Strong subject knowledge in English and a passion for inclusive teaching
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to inspire, motivate and support students with a range of additional needs
- Understanding of adaptive teaching strategies and SEND best practice
- Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
