SEND Teacher with Maths Specialism

Lead Teacher of Maths & Assessment (SEND) | Southwark | September

Are you an experienced SEND Teacher ready to take the next step into leadership? This Lead Teacher of Maths & Assessment opportunity offers the chance to shape curriculum, drive whole-school assessment practice and make a lasting impact within a highly respected specialist school in Southwark.

This Lead Teacher of Maths & Assessment role is ideal for an ambitious teacher with a strong understanding of SEND education, Mathematics pedagogy and assessment for learning. The successful Lead Teacher of Maths & Assessment will join a specialist setting supporting pupils aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, communication difficulties, physical disabilities and medical needs.

What makes this Lead Teacher of Maths & Assessment role unique is the opportunity to influence practice beyond your own classroom. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to develop a Maths curriculum that promotes independence, confidence and real-world application, whilst leading a whole-school approach to assessment that genuinely informs teaching and learning.

The successful Lead Teacher of Maths & Assessment will:

  • Hold UK QTS
  • Have experience teaching within a SEND or inclusive setting
  • Demonstrate strong Maths pedagogy, including functional Maths and small-step learning approaches
  • Have experience using assessment effectively to improve pupil outcomes
  • Be confident leading and supporting colleagues across the school
  • Maintain high expectations for all pupils regardless of need or starting point
  • Be committed to inclusion, collaboration and continuous improvement
