SEND Class Teacher – Lewes, BN8 | Permanent, Full-time (Term Time)
Location: Lewes (BN8)
Salary: £37,058 – £55,190 (depending on experience and career progression)

About The Role
As a SEND Class Teacher at Chailey Heritage School, you will:
- Provide high-quality teaching and learning for pupils with:
- Physical disabilities
- Complex communication needs
- Sensory impairments
- Medical needs
- Learning difficulties
- Collaborate with a skilled class team, including a Lead Education Assistant and Specialist/Education Assistants, to deliver individualised learning experiences through the CHILD (Chailey Heritage Individual Learner-Driven) Curriculum.
- Foster confidence, communication, independence, and essential life skills for pupils to achieve meaningful outcomes.
- Support and develop colleagues within the classroom, build strong family partnerships, and work closely with therapists, nurses, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive pupil support.

About You
We’re looking for a mindded educator who holds:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A passion for inclusive education and SEND
- The ability to adapt creatively to teach a diverse range of complex needs
- Strong skills in relationship-building with pupils, families, and colleagues
- A collaborative mindset for working within multidisciplinary teams
- Resilience, professionalism, and a commitment to high standards
Prior experience in SEND, specialist education, SLD, PMLD, or complex needs settings is advantageous, though we particularly welcome newly qualified teachers who share our vision, commitment, and enthusiasm to learn and grow.
