  • Are Empathetic: You have a person-first approach and can see the world through a student's eyes.
  • Are Resilient: You stay calm under pressure and can handle challenging behaviour with a professional, de-escalating approach.
  • Have Experience: Previous experience with SEND (in schools, care, or personal life) is highly desirable.
  • Are a Communicator: You can work effectively with teachers, parents, and external therapists to follow EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Support: Work 1:1 or in small groups to make the curriculum accessible (e.g., using visual timetables or sensory breaks).
  • Nurture: Help students develop social skills and emotional regulation.
  • Observe: Keep track of progress against EHCP goals and provide feedback to the SENCO.
  • Safeguard: Maintain a safe, inclusive environment where every student feels valued.
