SEND Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Islington is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support, enabling pupils to thrive both academically and socially.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Have previous experience supporting pupils with SEND in a primary school setting
  • Have experience working with children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, or other additional learning needs
  • Be confident providing both 1:1 and small group support
  • Have a patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Be committed to promoting inclusion and helping every child achieve their full potential

The Role Will Involve

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs within the classroom and around the school
  • Delivering targeted interventions and implementing strategies set by the class teacher and SENCO
  • Encouraging pupils independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour management strategies
  • Adapting learning resources to meet individual needs
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals where appropriate

Location: Islington

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Long-Term (with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate)

Salary: GBP95-GBP115 per day (dependent on experience)
