Some children need a little extra support to thrive in school. Whether it's helping them stay focused during lessons, build friendships, communicate their needs, or develop confidence in the classroom, the right support can make all the difference.
Leader Education is working with primary schools in Leeds to recruit SEND Teaching Assistants who can provide consistent support to pupils with additional learning and developmental needs.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, building positive relationships, and celebrating the small wins that have a big impact on a child's education.
What You'll Be Doing
No two days are exactly the same, but your role will involve supporting pupils both academically and socially throughout the school day.
You Will
- Work alongside teachers to support pupils with SEND in the classroom
- Provide 1:1 and small-group interventions
- Encourage pupils to engage in lessons and school activities
- Support children with communication, social interaction, and emotional development
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Adapt support strategies to suit individual learning needs
- Promote independence and confidence both inside and outside the classroom
- Celebrate progress and help pupils achieve their personal goals

You may support children with a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
