You can begin working in an impact-first role with SENse Learning. Our SEND Tutor roles allow you to provide one-to-one support for the most in-need young people, working across specialisms as a:
- Specialist Teacher
- Intervention Tutor
- SEND Teacher
Multiple positions are available. We are hiring continuously and arranging interviews as applications are received.
About the Role
SENse Learning is on a mission to ensure no student is left behind. As leaders in Alternative Provision, we support children and young people to achieve their educational goals through bespoke, holistic learning packages.
Our approach is embedded in the student’s home and community, ensuring that learning is tailored to meet individual needs—enabling success through a trauma-informed framework.

SEND Tutor: Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
• 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience—ideally with SEND, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), SLD (Specific Learning Difficulties), and/or PMLD (Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties) • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) • Corporate DBS (Enhanced Clearance) (we can assist with this) • 2+ professional references
Key Approach & Skills
- Child-centred mindset: Holistic, individualised and trauma-informed teaching
- Innovative & creative curriculum delivery: Tailored to each student’s strengths, needs and risk assessment
- Safeguarding knowledge: Commitment to creating a duty of care-driven learning environment
- Location: Must be UK-based and authorised to work in the UK
SEND Tutor Role & Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Build trusting relationships with children & young people who face significant challenges in traditional education settings
- Provide bespoke, trauma-informed sessions, including:
- In-person support
- Online/remote one-to-one mentoring
- Hybrid models
- Cater to a broad age range: KS1–KS5
- Apply SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) & SEND expertise (e.g., PDA, complex mental health) in flexible, responsive tutoring
- Collaborate with parents, schools and safeguarding leads to align support with individual EHCP (Educational Health Care Plan) & risk assessments
