Band 6 Senior Clinical Coding Analyst – ACC

Location: Denmark Hill, London
About the Role
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Band 6 Senior Clinical Coding Analyst – ACC to join our team at our Denmark Hill site in London.
As a Senior Clinical Coding Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in the management of the coding department. Your duties will include assisting a small team of coders to meet strict deadlines, mentoring junior colleagues, and coordinating clinical meetings to validate coded data.
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
- Possess extensive knowledge of clinical coding rules and conventions
- Have a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Be responsible, organised, and meticulous in meeting monthly Trust deadlines
Collaboration with clinicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals is essential as we progress with clinical coding validation and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the coding department to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to deadlines
- Supervise and mentor junior Clinical Coding Analysts, helping to develop their skills and knowledge
- Coordinate clinical validation meetings to ensure coded data reflects accurate patient care
- Maintain compliance with coding regulations and NHS standards
- Provide effective communication between coding teams and clinical teams
- Contribute to departmental training, workshops, and improvements
- Monitor coding quality, deadlines, and performance metrics

Requirements
- Must hold the Accredited Clinical Coding (ACC) Qualification
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
- Detailed understanding of ICD-10 coding conventions, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work under pressure
- Previous experience in a hospital setting or clinical coding role is advantageous
