- Salary: £56,912 – £62,618 per annum
This is a great opportunity for a key finance leadership role as the Senior Accountant for Children’s Services at Norfolk County Council.
We are seeking an experienced finance professional, CCAB qualified, to take on this vital leadership position within the Budgeting and Accounting Team. The successful candidate will play an integral role in delivering a first-class budgeting and accounting service across the organisation. You'll manage a large and diverse team, have experience within a large and complex organisation, and the ability to support transformational change.

The Role
The core focus of this position is to:
- Work closely with our services to support day-to-day budgeting and accounting requirements
- Lead a range of transformational change projects
- Head up a team of qualified Accountants, providing support, guidance, and advice to ensure alignment with organisational objectives
- Act as a subject matter expert for complex financial issues
As a local authority, transparency, accuracy, and professionalism are critical. This role is currently aligned with Children’s Services, supporting the department to achieve its long-term vision.
Ideal Candidate
To apply, you will need:
- A proven background as an Accountant (or similar role)
- Ideally, experience within the finance team of a large/complex organisation
- CCAB qualification, with post-qualification experience working in senior financial roles
- Comfortable working with:
- Finance Business Partners
- Senior service leaders
- Diverse stakeholders
- Ability to influence at both strategic and operational levels
- Experience in managing a team is beneficial, though more critical are:
- A positive and proactive approach
- Sound financial judgement
- Skill in building effective working relationships
