Senior Accountant / Client Manager

Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated accountant to join a progressive and supportive team in Birmingham as a Senior Accountant / Client Manager. This position offers excellent client exposure, autonomy, and professional development in a growing practice. Based in Birmingham, you'll manage your own portfolio, provide insightful financial advice, and play an active role in mentoring junior team members. The role offers a competitive salary in the range of £45,000-£50,000, designed to reward experience and potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Review bookkeeping, VAT returns, and management accounts across a varied portfolio.
- Oversee statutory accounts, corporation tax, and personal tax compliance.
- Prepare advisory and technical documentation for senior review.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, managing deadlines and queries efficiently.
- Support Managers and Directors on client workflow, including Accounts, Tax, Payroll, and VAT.
- Develop a thorough understanding of clients' business operations to deliver commercially sound advice.
- Guide clients on best practices in system setup, controls, and software use.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to staff training and development.
- Identify areas to streamline internal processes for greater efficiency.

Skills and Experience
- ACA / ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience with strong technical grounding.
- Minimum of two years' post-qualified practice experience.
- Proficient with MS Office and Xero; experience with Iris or Sage is beneficial.
- Confident communicator with excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Skilled in managing teams and fostering professional growth.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
