German Speaking – Senior Accountant (Uxbridge)
Salary: £60,000 to £65,000 (dependent on experience)
As part of our team in Uxbridge, we are seeking a German-speaking Senior Accountant to take on key responsibilities within our Finance department.
About the Role
You will serve as a strategic accounting lead, ensuring accurate financial reporting while overseeing day-to-day financial operations. Your responsibilities include reconciling accounts, conducting audits, and supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual closures—all in alignment with German GAAP (HGB).
Responsibilities
- Independent handling of day-to-day financial accounting, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and banking reconciliations
- Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (German GAAP compliance)
- Conducting account reconciliations, resolving outstanding items, and maintaining general ledger accuracy
- Managing fixed asset accounting, including capitalisation, depreciation, and reconciliations
- Preparation of VAT returns and support on tax-related matters
- Assisting in payment processing, including transaction monitoring and posting
- Collaboration during audits with external auditors and tax advisors
- Working closely with specialist departments to optimise accounting processes

Requirements & Qualifications
- Professional qualification: Completed commercial training (e.g., industrial clerk for accounts) or tax clerk certification
- Formal accounting accreditation: Preference for a Certified Accountant (IHK)
- Experience: Multiple years in financial accounting, particularly with the general ledger
- Technical expertise:
- Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, DATEV)
- Knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP is advantageous
- Familiarity with EasyJob software is a plus
- Character & Skills:
- Self-directed, structured, and detail-oriented with a strong quality-focus
- Effective communication, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration
- Fluency in German (written & spoken); competent English (written & spoken)
