About the role
We're looking for a Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to take ownership of core accounting for our UK and European entities, reporting into the Financial Controller and working closely with the wider US-based group finance team. This is an excellent first move out of practice for a qualified or finalist accountant who wants real commercial exposure, ownership, and a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment to grow in – without being a small cog in a huge machine.
You'll be the day-to-day owner of the European numbers, with genuine scope to shape local processes as the business scales, while working within a broader global finance structure.
What you'll do
- Owning month-end close for UK and European entities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing statutory accounts and supporting audits under IFRS across multiple jurisdictions
- Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations between European entities and the wider global group
- Partnering with the Financial Controller and US-based group finance team on reporting, consolidation support, and technical accounting matters
- Maintaining and improving controls and processes within NetSuite as the group scales
- Supporting VAT and other statutory/tax filings across UK and EU territories, working with local advisors where needed
- Getting involved in ad hoc projects: system improvements, acquisition integrations, and process automation
- Acting as a key point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, and other external stakeholders

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
