Senior Accountant
Accounts Senior – Wellingborough
📍 Location: Wellingborough 💷 Salary: £35,000–£40,000 🗓️ Working Week: 4-Day
Are you an experienced Accounts Senior looking for a better work-life balance without compromising your career?
An established and growing accountancy practice in Wellingborough is seeking to appoint an Accounts Senior to join its friendly and professional team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a diverse client portfolio while benefiting from a genuine 4-day working week.
The Role
You’ll manage your own portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services to businesses of varying sectors. Collaborating closely with managers and junior colleagues, you’ll help deliver exceptional client experiences while supporting team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of clients across multiple industries.
- Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Handle management accounts, corporation tax, and personal tax returns.
- Complete VAT returns and ensure full compliance with HMRC requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, fostering long-term relationships.
- Review work completed by junior team members, offering guidance and support.
- Liaise with auditors and external advisors to meet critical deadlines.
- Identify opportunities for added value through business advice and supplementary services.

About You
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- ACCA qualification (or equivalent) or near-completion.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an accountancy practice.
- Strong expertise in preparing statutory and management accounts.
- Experience with corporation tax, personal tax, and VAT returns.
- Proficiency with cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
- Exceptional communication and client relationship skills.
- Excellent organisation, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
- A proactive mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality client service.
