About the Role

Are you an experienced accounting professional looking for a role where you can take ownership of client work, build strong relationships, and continue developing your career within a supportive environment? A growing and highly regarded accountancy practice is seeking an Accounts Senior to join its established team in Truro. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with practice experience who enjoys a varied workload, working closely with clients, and adding real value through proactive financial support and advice.

As an Accounts Senior, you will manage a diverse portfolio of clients, preparing accounts, tax returns, VAT submissions, and management information while working closely with colleagues and supporting junior members of the team. The role offers excellent exposure, autonomy, and the opportunity to progress within a forward-thinking professional services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of businesses and individuals
  • Producing management accounts, forecasts, and financial projections to support client decision-making
  • Completing personal and company tax computations, along with VAT returns
  • Providing bookkeeping support, including transaction processing, reconciliations, and financial record preparation
  • Reviewing client information and identifying opportunities to improve processes and provide added value
  • Managing workloads effectively to meet deadlines and agreed budgets
  • Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a trusted point of contact
  • Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues, helping them develop their technical skills
  • Highlighting technical issues and working with colleagues to deliver practical solutions

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a practice environment is essential
  • AAT, ACCA, ACA qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • Strong understanding of accounts preparation, tax compliance, and VAT processes
  • Experience using modern accounting software and digital systems
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to manage your own workload while supporting others when required
  • A confident communicator who enjoys working directly with clients
  • A proactive and organised approach with strong attention to detail
