Senior Accountant Technical
Senior Accountant (Technical)

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant (Technical) to lead on specialist financial and technical accounting across the Council.
You’ll provide expert advice on statutory accounts, technical accounting, and tax, while playing a key role in year-end processes and financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Corporate & Technical Accounting team
- Prepare and deliver statutory financial statements
- Oversee financial controls, reconciliations, and compliance
- Maintain and optimise the chart of accounts
- Provide technical input to budgets, forecasts, and the Medium-Term Financial Plan
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations
- Support audit processes and produce regulatory returns
- Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders and contribute to key decisions

About You
- CCAB/CIMA qualified with substantial experience
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (including statutory reporting)
- Proven leadership experience in a complex organisation
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills
- Confident communicator, able to influence and advise senior stakeholders
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and governance
