Senior Accounts Assistant (12-Month Maternity Cover) – Contract Position

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a highly competent Accounts Assistant to assist the Finance Team at our busy Northern Ireland office. The role will involve close engagement with our NI Finance and Commercial team across all aspects of the finance function.
This is a 12-month maternity cover contract position for someone looking for a dynamic and rewarding challenge.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sales Ledger Management
- Contribute to management via credit control duties (e.g., tracking overdue payments)
- Record customer receipts accurately
- Manage EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) processes
- Prepare and set up monthly direct debits
- Issue and distribute customer statements

Stock Purchase Ledger & Order Control
- Maintain purchase order schedules and track shipments
- Process and record purchase orders
- Document shipping and receipt details
- Monitor intercompany orders and supplier movements

Non-Stock Purchase Ledger Support
- Record and process all invoices received
- Liaise with budget holders to obtain approvals for expenditures
- Code and process invoices efficiently
- Maintain and update the purchase order system
- Generate monthly payment runs
- Address supplier queries and resolve issues as needed

Collate monthly recharges for reporting to relevant brand owners

Reporting & Reconciliation
- Create daily and monthly reports (including):
- Daily Sales
- FOC (Free On Board)
- Depletion Reports
- Stock Reports
- Debtors Reports
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end reconciliations

Invoice Financing & Cash Flow Management
- Prepare invoice financing declarations
- Process payments and drawdowns to manage cash flow

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with management, logistics, and sales teams
- Take a hands-on approach, acting as a finance resource across the business

Budget & Compliance
- Assist in maintaining the adequacy of accounting internal controls
- Support with the continual compliance of financial procedures
- Contribute to the preparation of:
- Monthly management accounts
- Annual statutory accounts
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Ambitious individual with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills
- Fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Energetic, proactive attitude—enthusiastic about taking initiative when team support is needed
- At least 3 years of experience in an accounts role, including 1 year in a senior capacity
- Partially qualified (AAT/IATI-trained) preferred
