Senior Actuary – Financial Planning & Analysis at Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC)
About the Role
Pension Insurance Corporation ("PIC") provides secure retirement incomes through comprehensive risk management and excellence in asset and liability management, along with exceptional customer service. Our purpose is to pay the pensions of our current and future policyholders.
We are recruiting for a Senior Actuary to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) department. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of Business Plan projections, maintain the planning model, drive continuous improvement in methodology, and support wider Financial Planning & Analysis deliverables. Your contribution will strengthen forecasting accuracy and deliver insights to senior stakeholders, including solvency estimates and ad-hoc queries.
Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of PIC’s Business Plan projections, collaborating closely with senior contributors across Origination, Investments, Strategy, Finance, and Risk.
- Maintain the Business Planning model, spearheading improvements in methodology and toolset while introducing innovative refinements.
- Collaborate with senior colleagues to drive and support PIC’s weekly solvency estimates and forecasts, analyse variances against month-end results, and strengthen forecasting strategies.
- Lead analytical responses to shareholder/stakeholder queries, delivering insightful findings and presenting concise, impactful outcomes.
- Support the Head of Forecasting & Planning, Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, and CFO on ad hoc investigations and projects as they arise.
- Foster continuous development of technical (e.g., data analysis, critical judgement) and non-technical (self-insight, relationship management) skills.
- Stay informed of industry trends, market developments, regulatory changes, and best practices by engaging with:

Requirements
Experience
- A qualified actuary with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
- Experience in cross-discipline teamwork (e.g., Finance, Strategy, Risk).
- Proven track record of financial and data analysis, with strong reporting capabilities.
Knowledge
- Strong grasp of the UK Solvency regime, including PRT business planning and financial analysis.
- Deep knowledge of actuarial modelling techniques, applied specifically to UK life insurers.
- Experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), including SII reporting, surplus estimates, and IFRS compliance.
Skills
- Outstanding organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with influence and persuasion capabilities.
- Ability to articulate key findings convincingly to diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional numerical and analytical skills, with proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.

- Knowledge of Asset Liability Management (ALM) and hedging instruments.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VBA, data modelling).
- Exposure to actuarial modelling systems and development.
- Experience in team leadership and development.
