Senior Nurse / Addiction Liaison Nurse

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team. As a key member of this nurse-led team, you’ll work with individuals experiencing complex alcohol and drug problems, often accompanied by significant risks and vulnerabilities.
Key Focus Areas:
- Providing specialist assessment, treatment, engagement, and assertive care
- Supporting those needing higher-level risk management
- Working across healthcare and community settings
- Collaborating with:
- Acute hospitals
- Liaison psychiatry services
- Primary care
- Emergency services
- Homelessness organisations
- Third-sector providers
Sponsorship: All applicants will be assessed for eligibility to receive a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) in line with current Home Office requirements.
Post Details
- Type: Permanent, full-time (36 hours/week)
- Work Pattern: Monday to Friday
- Location: Wellpark Centre, part of Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service

Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Work in partnership with individuals, families, and professional agencies to deliver compassionate, person-centred care
- Provide specialist assessment, engagement, treatment, and risk management for those with complex addictions
- Offer assertive outreach and harm reduction support during heightened vulnerability, including:
- Times of prison release
- Post-hospital discharge
- High-risk crisis situations
- Following non-fatal overdoses
- Act as a key liaison between:
- Acute hospitals
- Liaison psychiatry services
- Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services
- Wider healthcare and community partners
- Ensure effective communication, care coordination, and continuity of support
