Senior Administrative Officer – Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children
Location: North London (Primary & Secondary sites)
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: Scale PO1, Spinal Points 26-28
Hours: 36 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM)
Start Date: Monday, 1 September 2026

About the School
Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children is an innovative provision for deaf children aged 3–16, operating across two purpose-built sites in North London.
- Collaborates with mainstream primary and secondary schools on shared sites.
- Offers a bilingual education approach (British Sign Language BSL and English).
- Committed to supporting deaf and hearing educators equally.
- An expanding school with increasing pupil numbers and a skills-based team.
The Role
We are excited to introduce a new operational post within the administrative team, central to the school’s smooth running. This is a varied, challenging, and rewarding role involving:
- Direct engagement with pupils and families
- Operational finance and HR responsibilities
- Managing a small office team
- Regular travel between Primary and Secondary sites

- Developing, implementing, and improving administrative systems
- Overseeing MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook and beyond) and training staff
- Coordinating HR processes (recruitment, staff records, welfare)
- Managing school finance processes and budget adherence
- Facilitating communication between pupils, families, staff, governors and external partners
- Supporting operational efficiency and compliance
- Promoting the school’s disabled-friendly, inclusive culture
Requirements
We are looking for someone who is a problem-solving, adaptive multitasker with:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven education-administrative background
- Team management skills in a fast-paced educational setting
- Expert MS Office proficiency (advanced Word, Excel, Outlook)
- BSL skills OR a willingness to commit to structured BSL learning
- Safeguarding awareness (DBS clearance required)
- Commitment to equal opportunities

- Bilingual (BSL/English) fluency or available to build it
- Familiarity with HRIS and financial software for schools
- Experience in safeguarding-heavy environments (child protection protocols)
- Strong organsational and stakeholder-management skills
- Self-motivation prospective for growth through CPD
