The Position
This role is in Analytical Data Science, a core function within Product Development Data Sciences (PDD). PDD provides strategic leadership and scientific rigor across Development at Roche.

The Opportunity
The Analytical Data Science Programmer is a key contributor to clinical study teams, responsible for transforming statistical analysis plans into high-quality, traceable programming deliverables. This includes:
Key Responsibilities
- Creating and validating datasets aligned with Study Data Tabulation Model (SDTM) and Analysis Data Model (ADaM) standards.
- Generating outputs such as tables, listings, figures, and interactive data visualizations/dashboards.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Roche standards.
- Supporting real-time exploration and interpretation of clinical/exploratory data via platforms like the Insight Engine.
- Contributing to robust, timely, and decision-enabling analytics across clinical programs.

Detailed Responsibilities
- Independently develop, validate, and maintain datasets (SDTM-, ADaM-based) and statistical outputs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Support programming outputs across exploratory biomarker and real-world data.
- Engage in cross-disease/area exploratory analyses to inform drug development.
- Collaborate on dashboard/visual tools for dynamic dataset analysis.
- Lead programming for assigned studies, coordinating with internal/external partners to meet timelines.
- Translate statistical analysis plans into executable programming specifications.
- Troubleshoot technical programming challenges and mitigate risks independently.
- Design/maintain reusable standard macros for efficiency across studies.
- Document workflows and maintain audit trails for regulatory inspection readiness.
- Partner cross-functionally (biostatistics, data management, clinical operations) to ensure timely deliverables.
- Participate in process improvement and knowledge enhancement initiatives.
Requirements
Who You Are
- A graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or related field.
- Solid experience in statistical programming in clinical development OR an advanced degree with equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages such as SAS or R.
- In-depth understanding of statistical rigor, QC, and endpoints.
- Experience with CDISC standards (e.g., SDTM, ADaM).
- Expertise in handling multi-modal data types.
- Boundless ability to deliver programming outputs independently.
