Senior Advice Officer – Household Support & Advice Team
Location: City Chambers, City of Edinburgh Salary: £40,501 – £47,639 per year Hours: 36 per week
About the Role
Are you an experienced adviser, skilled in money and/or welfare rights advice?
We are seeking two Senior Advice Officers to join a collaborative team dedicated to preventing poverty, fostering community partnerships, and improving accessibility to vital services.
Core Responsibilities
You will provide specialist casework across money and welfare rights, aligning with Type III of the National Standards for Information & Advice Providers. Key duties include:
- Offering a person-centred, outcome-focused intervention across all age groups, focusing on tackling inequality, alleviating poverty, and maintaining tenancies.
- Working closely with Council colleagues, creditors, DWP, Social Security Scotland, voluntary sector organisations, statutory services, and NHS provision.
- Supporting locality-based colleagues and service users to maximise impact and accessibility of advice services.
- Developing integrated interventions that align with the Council’s prevention and early intervention approaches for poverty, financial hardship, and homelessness prevention.

Key Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in money and welfare rights advice within an advice sector context.
- Proven track record of delivering outcome-focused, person-centred support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with the ability to establish rapport with diverse service users.
- Commitment to shared learning and professional development.
