Senior Advisory Board Member (Development Finance & Institutional Investment)

About the Role

The International Education Management Agency (IEMA) is convening a global Advisory Board to support its work at the intersection of education systems, capital allocation, and long-term development outcomes.

We are inviting senior professionals with experience in multilateral development institutions, development finance, and global institutional investment to contribute in a non-executive advisory capacity.

This role is intended for individuals who bring a system-level perspective on how capital can be structured and deployed to support sustainable, scalable improvements in education access, quality, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic input on financing approaches relevant to education systems
  • Contribute perspectives on blended finance, capital structuring, and public-private engagement models
  • Support the development of institutional partnerships and cross-sector collaboration
  • Participate in periodic advisory discussions and thematic consultations
  • Offer insight to inform IEMA’s long-term strategic direction and programme design

Time Commitment

  • Flexible and compatible with existing senior-level responsibilities
  • Engagement through periodic virtual consultations and discussions
  • Optional participation in targeted working groups or strategic initiatives

  • World Bank Group (including IBRD and IDA)
  • International Finance Corporation (IFC)
  • Asian Development Bank (ADB)
  • African Development Bank (AfDB)
  • Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
  • Islamic Development Bank (IsDB)
  • European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
  • Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) / Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)

As well as professionals from leading global institutional investors, including:

  • BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street Global Advisors
  • Temasek, GIC, ADIA, Mubadala, PIF
  • CPP Investments, CDPQ, APG, Norges Bank Investment Management
  • Global pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and large-scale impact investment platforms
