Join our Air Quality team as our Senior Air Quality Consultant and collaborate to bridge the gap toward a sustainable future.
Your New Role
As our Senior Air Quality Consultant, you will deliver air quality services for both internal and external clients, covering industrial, residential, and commercial development projects. You’ll also support the development of junior staff while managing complex national and international projects. Primarily desk-based, this role may occasionally require travel.
To succeed, you must:
- Have experience in managing complex air quality assessments.
- Be passionate about driving positive change in future developments.
Candidates can be based within a reasonable commute to our London or Manchester offices, with flexible hybrid working available. Other locations may be considered but are not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and manage air quality projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team or independently.
- Support the Air Quality Lead in ongoing projects.
- Mentor and guide junior staff to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Stay updated on the latest developments, regulations, and standards applicable to air quality assessments.
- Represent (or assist in representing) Ramboll’s air quality services to external stakeholders, including presentations and market-facing initiatives.
- Contribute to winning new projects by creating technical proposals, refining service offerings, supporting colleague upskilling, and strengthening client relationships.
- Support the innovation of new tools and techniques to enhance air quality service delivery.

Your New Team
You’ll be part of the Air Quality and Climate Department, contributing to daily air quality assessments with guidance from senior colleagues. Our global practice combines high-level technical and scientific expertise, tailored to client needs.
In the UK, our work includes:
- Environmental impact assessments for major developments (e.g., infrastructure, urban projects).
- Industrial emission assessments for planning and permitting.
- Other projects:
- Dust and odour nuisance assessments.
- Air quality monitoring initiatives.
- International ESRIAs (Environment, Social, Health, and Impact Assessments).
- Indoor air quality assessments.
About You
At Ramboll, we invest in your growth. Below are key qualifications, skills, and attributes for this role:
- Demonstrable success in delivering air quality assessments in the UK across diverse schemes.
- Proficiency with Air Dispersion Models (e.g., ADMS, ADMS-Roads) and GIS packages for data management.
- Ability to interpret environmental guidelines, policies, and legislation, applying them to projects for solutions.
- Strong understanding of the UK air quality legal framework for planning and permitting.
- Exceptional communication skills to engage with clients and stakeholders, gather requirements, and deliver clear, precise reports.
- Self-organised, capable of prioritising workload with minimal oversight.
- Full membership of the Institute of Air Quality Management.
