Location: London, Manchester, United Kingdom (also open to other locations for suitable candidates)

By joining our Air Quality team, you’ll play a vital role in helping organisations meet sustainable development goals through expert air quality analysis, mentoring, and innovation.
Your New Role
As a Senior Air Quality Consultant, you’ll lead and support national and international projects encompassing industrial, residential, and commercial developments, while guiding junior staff to ensure high-quality outcomes.
This is a hybrid role—Core to the position will be desk-based work, though occasional travel may be required for site visits or engagements.
To succeed here, you must demonstrate:
- Experience in managing complex air quality assessments with a proven track record of delivering accurate, compliant, and impactful results
- A strong commitment to driving positive change in environmental sustainability
- The expertise to mentor junior staff while maintaining strategic oversight of projects
Ideal candidates will be based within a comfortable commute to our London or Manchester offices, as we support a flexible, hybrid working model. While other locations may be considered, base location cannot be guaranteed until role assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-calibre air quality assessments—both as standalone projects and within multi-disciplinary teams
- Provide strategic support to the air quality lead, ensuring alignment with broader project goals
- Mentor junior colleagues, fostering team growth and delivering complex project workloads effectively
- Stay current with regulations, adaptive guidelines, and cutting-edge methodologies critical to air quality work
- Represent Ramboll’s air quality capabilities externally via stakeholder engagements, presentations, and market-development initiatives
- Lead pitches and technical proposals to secure new projects while deepening relationships with current clients
- Drive innovation by developing new tools, techniques, and processes to enhance service delivery

- Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for major development schemes, infrastructure projects, and urban planning initiatives
- Industrial emission assessments for both planning and permitting
- Dust and odour nuisance evaluations, as well as air quality monitoring programs
- International Environmental & Social Hazard & Impact Assessments (ESHIAs)
- Indoor Air Quality investigations

Requirements
Must have:
- Proven expertise delivering UK-focused air quality assessments across varied project types
- Practical experience with air dispersion modelling (e.g., ADMS, ADMS-Roads)
- Ability to utilise GIS platforms for data handling and visualisation
- A keen command of UK legal and regulatory frameworks for air quality (planning applications, environmental permitting)
- Outstanding capacity to engage stakeholders effectively, translating complex findings into business-aligned solutions
- Formal affiliation as a Full Member of the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM)
