Job Opportunity: Be part of the leadership team at Doncaster Sheffield Airport’s relaunch
Doncaster Sheffield Airport is seeking to appoint a Senior Air Traffic Services Assistant (ATSA) to support the relaunch and growth of the airport. This is a unique chance to contribute to leadership while maintaining operational standards alongside experienced tower and radar controllers.
Developing a new team with aviation passion, this role offers operational, technical, and administrative support in one of the most respected safety-critical sectors. Ideal for career progression in aviation, this position ensures air travel remains safe, efficient, and timely for passengers across the UK.
About the Role
The Senior Air Traffic Services Assistant (ATSA) reports to the Head of Air Traffic Services, responsible for:
- Managing and training the team of ATSAs while upholding all regulatory standards
- Delivering operational support in air traffic control
- Liaising with internal/external stakeholders (e.g., SARG, CAA)
- Coordination flight schedules and CAS updates
- Contributing to departmental and corporate reports

Key Responsibilities
Team and Compliance Leadership
- Manage and develop a team of ATSAs, ensuring standards are met
- Represent the department in meetings (e.g., Safety Management Team)
Operational & Technical Support
- Provide operational support to ATCOs (Air Traffic Controllers) when an ATSA is unavailable
- Handle NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) and SNOWTAMs (Snow Reports)
- Input flight information into systems and manage meteorological archives
Urgent Coordination
- Relay emergency airspace information across internal/external stakeholders
Training & Compliance
- Conduct initial ATSA training and annual competency reviews
- Met examiner for ATC personnel, ensuring compliance with standards
- Validate meteorological certifications
The Successful Candidate
- Experience: Recent Senior Air Traffic Services Assistant or equivalent ATSA experience
- Passion: Commitment to aviation with energy for team development
- Skills: Strong communication, decision-making, multitasking in high-pressure environments
