Senior Analyst

Location: St Vincent Crescent, Glasgow – 5 days onsite

Salary: From £55,000 + Excellent Benefits

Closing Date: 27th July 2026

SP Energy Networks is seeking a commercially minded and analytically driven Senior Analyst to join our Commercial & Performance team. Reporting to the Process & Compliance Manager, you will lead a team of Business and Compliance Analysts and play a key role in delivering high-quality financial and performance insight that supports strategic decision-making across the business.

This role combines strong financial, commercial, and leadership responsibilities, requiring the ability to analyse complex data, challenge performance, and deliver accurate reporting in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with regulatory, commercial, and operational stakeholders to ensure robust financial control, performance management, and compliance with regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of Business and Compliance Analysts, promoting high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver accurate and timely daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting, providing clear commentary on business performance against forecasts and targets.
  • Analyse costs, income, and operational performance data within SAP to support effective decision-making and commercial performance.
  • Apply financial and accounting principles to ensure reporting integrity, consistency, and compliance across all outputs.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
  • Produce high-quality executive reporting, including Director and CEO presentation packs.
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, concise, and actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to understand requirements and enhance reporting effectiveness.
  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis and project-based support to drive business improvement initiatives.
  • Support regulatory reporting obligations, including submissions to OFGEM and other regulatory bodies.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls, efficiency, and data quality.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed deadlines.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience in a Financial Analyst, Commercial Analyst, or similar analytical role within a regulated or complex business environment.
  • Demonstrable experience leading, developing, and motivating a team.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, management accounts, and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of financial controls, governance, and reporting integrity.
  • Experience producing executive-level reports and presentations for senior leadership teams.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • SAP experience would be desirable.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence and reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across multiple levels of the organisation.
  • Experience supporting regulatory reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation.
