Role Description

This is a "builder-strategist" role for someone who can bridge strategy and execution in a complex operational environment. You'll sit alongside the Head of Operational Excellence and work directly with Risk Ops leadership, turning operational problems into clear decisions, building the case for structural change, and identifying where AI and automation can step-change how we detect, decide, and respond.

What you will be doing

  • Shape the strategic narrative for Risk Ops, synthesising ops data, regulatory shifts, and fraud intelligence into exec-ready views.
  • Build the business cases for change, cost-to-serve models, investment sizing, trade-off frameworks, and make scenario-based recommendations on headcount, geography, vendors, and technology.
  • Own the AI opportunity roadmap for Risk Ops. Identify where LLMs, autonomous agents, and intelligent automation can reduce manual workflows, improve decision quality, or unlock new capabilities. Evaluate and shape vendor strategy, including build vs. buy.
  • Define how AI performance is measured operationally: design the metrics, tracking, and feedback loops that validate whether AI tooling is delivering against service quality and efficiency outcomes.
  • Partner with the Data Analytics team to commission and interpret analysis - you define the questions, they build the answers, and together you shape the insight.
  • Run the operating rhythm for Risk Ops, leadership meetings, planning cycles, OKR setting, retrospectives, cross-functional syncs.
  • Be a force-multiplier for the VP of Risk Operations, surface the critical and keep nothing important falling through.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you

  • 3+ years in strategy, operations, consulting, business operations, or a Chief of Staff role - ideally in fintech, payments, or B2B SaaS.
  • Exposure to Risk Operations environments - fraud operations, disputes, or regulatory compliance. Demonstrable experience designing or contributing to operating model decisions: org design, channel strategy, service tiering, or decisioning framework development.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and its applications in risk - you follow developments in LLMs, agents, and ML-driven decisioning, and can translate that into practical business opportunities.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management, you run multiple workstreams in parallel, navigate cross-functional tensions, and build trust with senior leaders quickly.
  • Strong commercial instinct - you think about risk operations through the lens of unit economics, loss rates, and scalability.
  • Analytical fluency: you don't need to write SQL or train models, but you understand how AI systems make decisions, know how to interrogate outputs critically, and can spot when a model is producing nonsense.
