Senior Analyst, Physical Commodities Operations

Senior Analyst – Commodities Operations (London)

Our London-based Regional Commodities Operations team provides operational expertise and strategic control to our growing Commodities and Global Markets Division. You’ll collaborate closely with trading and sales teams, gaining hands-on experience across physical commodity transactions, spanning agricultural, base metals, and oil products.

About the Role

As a Senior Analyst, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring seamless operations across trade and settlement processes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Validating trade bookings to maintain accuracy and integrity
  • Reviewing physical documentation, including bills of lading, letters of indemnity, and related legal contracts
  • Drafting commercial sales contracts and responding to counterparty terms
  • Facilitating cash and physical asset settlements, including reconciliation of balances
  • Serving as the primary client contact internally and externally, aligning with high standards of client care
  • Problem-solving, collaborating with colleagues globally to optimise workflows and drive process improvements
  • Supervising junior team members, fostering professional growth in a dynamic environment

What You Bring to the Role

To excel in this position, you’ll need:

  • 3+ years of direct experience in a commodity operations role (or related finance/operations function)
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse, global teams
  • Strong communication skills—ability to liaise with stakeholders, clients, and cross-functional colleagues
  • Keen attention to detail, with a focus on risk management and operational efficiency
  • Self-motivation and the ability to identify and implement best-practice improvements
