Senior Analytical Chemist
Senior Analytical Chemist – Advanced Mass Spectrometry
Location: Dundee Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

SRG are partnering with an innovative and rapidly growing organisation in the life sciences sector to recruit an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist with strong expertise in advanced mass spectrometry. This is a fantastic opportunity to join at the early stages of a significant laboratory expansion project, giving you the chance to influences analytical capabilities, establish best practices, and shape new ways of working.
Based in a newly refurbished laboratory, you’ll have access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and brand-new equipment, providing an outstanding environment to apply and further develop your technical expertise.
The Opportunity
The client seeks a highly skilled analytical scientist with substantial hands-on experience of LC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS/MS, particularly in triple quadrupole systems. While GMP experience would be advantageous, the primary focus is on identifying an individual with:
- Exceptional technical capability
- Strong problem-solving skills
- A passion for generating high-quality analytical data
Working with complex sample matrices, you’ll contribute significantly to marketing analytical methods while supporting the growth of a modern, expanding laboratory function.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimise, and troubleshoot analytical methods using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, and other analytical instrumentation
- Analyse complex sample matrices, including oils, lipids, and other challenging materials
- Support method validation activities in compliance with industry guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Ensure analytical data meets the highest standards of quality, robustness, and integrity
- Act as a subject matter expert for mass spectrometry across the laboratory
- Troubleshoot analytical and instrumentation challenges
- Contribute to laboratory process improvements and technical best practices
- Support the ongoing development of quality and compliance systems within the laboratory
This is a highly visible, technically challenging role offering genuine influence as the organisation continues to build and expand its analytical capabilities.
About You
Essential Qualifications
- A BSc, MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
- Extensive practical experience using LC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS/MS (essential)
- Strong experience in analytical method development and optimisation
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, reliable analytical data
- Experience working with complex sample matrices
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific excellence
- Interest in developing expertise within regulated laboratory environments

Desirable Qualifications
- Previous experience within a GMP environment or other regulated setting
- Knowledge of ICP-MS or complementary analytical techniques
- Awareness of data integrity principles, including ALCOA+
