Senior Analytics Engineer
About the Role
At Canopius, our delivery teams ensure that business users can leverage data insights effectively to drive strategic decision-making. Our data strategy is built around an enterprise Lakehouse platform on Databricks, eliminating fragmented, ungoverned silos from legacy technologies. We are establishing a governed, interoperable data estate that enables self-service for business teams while providing the trusted platform for advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to accelerate change.
This Senior Analytics Engineer role offers the chance to apply your expertise in analytics engineering, data modelling, and visualisation to develop, extend, and maintain analytics and reporting capabilities vital to decision-making across Canopius.
In this position, you will:
- Contribute to key business transformation projects
- Collaborate closely with senior business stakeholders
- Utilise modern technologies like Power BI and Databricks
- Take ownership as a senior team member, mentoring peers and upholding technical excellence
Candidates will need a passion for leveraging technology to drive industry change, keen insight into business challenges, and an ability to deliver scalable, efficient solutions. The role demands strong analytics engineering practices and effective collaboration within a dynamic team.

This position is critical to Canopius’ data strategy, enabling self-service analytics to operate smoothly while guiding the shift from legacy reporting systems to a cloud-native, future-ready ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Build, extend, and maintain analytics and reporting capabilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver solutions
- Optimise Databricks Lakehouse and Power BI systems for sustainability and scalability
- Lead project initiatives supporting business transformation
- Mentor team members and promote technical excellence using best practices
- Contribute to the technical transformation of legacy reporting systems
- Help establish a scalable, self-service, and governed data and analytics foundation
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an analytics engineer
- Strong background in analytics engineering, data modelling, and visualisation
- Hands-on experience with Power BI and cloud-based platforms, ideally Databricks
- Proven ability to translate business challenges into technical solutions
- Commitment to analytics engineering best practices and scalable, efficient code
- Collaborative mindset for working in a multi-disciplinary, dynamic team
