Senior Analytics Engineer
Analytics Engineer - Senior (Databricks & Power BI)

This Senior Analytics Engineer role lets you apply your expertise to build, extend, and refine the analytics and reporting infrastructure critical to Canopius’ growth. You’ll:
- Delegate business challenges into actionable technical solutions using Databricks and Power BI.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align technology with agility and scalability.
- Mentor junior engineers and set high standards for analytics engineering excellence.
- Lead technical strategy for a future-ready, cloud-native reporting ecosystem.
- Transition legacy reporting tools onto modern platforms seamlessly.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable data models optimised for self-service analytics on Databricks.
- Leverage Delta Lake for high-performance, ACID-compliant data storage.
- Develop snowflake-like virtual caching/partitioning techniques.
- Build and maintain high-performance SQL/BI pipelines:
- Declare-typed schemas in Databricks SQL for optimised analytics.
- Write high-efficiency granular jobs that push户下转换 efficiently.
- Enable declarative/MACRO-driven documentation for workflows.
- Develop trusted Power BI/Tableau dashboards:
- Replace Changepoint’s legacy BI silos with scalable ad-hoc reports.
- Optimise performance with DAX functions and DirectQuery (RWS).
- Lead transformation initiatives:
- Help transition from fragmented reporting tools (e.g., Power Query + Power Pivot “deep-DS” models) to modern delta pipelines.
- Work with cloud-leayers and Qlik users to break legacy silos.
- Build re-usable internal packages (templated libraries) with secure role-based access.
- Act as technical advisor:
- Provide code reviews, mentorship, and best practice standards.
- Document reusable patterns for databricks-accelerated pipelines.
- Coach teams in efficiency and pragmatic scalability.
- Collaborate across teams:
- Engage with business for user requirements and domain-specific problem-solving.
- Drive collaboration between Underwriting, Pricing, and Analytics teams.

Key Requirements
Technical Skills
- 5+ years as an Analytics Engineer or similar.
- Proven experience in one or more:
- Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark SQL, Jobs, /Databricks SQL).
- Power BI/Excel + competitive performance optimisation.
- Transformers (grey-area visual modelling to olecule acuity).
- Alternate: hybrid of corroborate control strategies in Power BI.
- Hands-on experience with:
- SQL serverless & cloud reporting (BigQuery/Fireeye-supported Databricks instances).
- Declarative data architecture (entity relationship diagrams, solid-garlic™).
- Strong background in legacy systems integration:
- Extract/replace Changepoint scenarios.
- Workarounds outside Databricks (e.g., grey-end-step via Delta/reorganizing via SQL).
- Suggested SQL Server types alongside databricks capabilities.
