About You

You’re an experienced Android platform engineer who understands Android beyond the application layer. You’re comfortable working deep within AOSP, Linux systems, and platform internals, and you enjoy solving complex engineering problems that sit across operating systems, infrastructure, performance, and security.

You likely come from an Android platform, embedded systems, cloud streaming, or systems engineering background and have experience taking Android-based platforms from source code through to production deployment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You think in systems, not silos. You understand the trade-offs between performance, scalability, maintainability, and security, particularly within regulated or high-assurance environments.

You enjoy ownership and technical depth, but you also work collaboratively across engineering teams, helping influence architecture, tooling, and technical direction through expertise and evidence rather than hierarchy.

You’re curious, pragmatic, and motivated by solving difficult engineering challenges at scale.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Android Systems Engineer (AOSP / Platform) to help design, build, and evolve the Android platform underpinning our secure cloud-hosted Android application delivery environment.

This role sits within Platform Engineering and focuses heavily on AOSP image development, Linux systems engineering, Android internals, and containerised Android execution using technologies such as Anbox Cloud.

You’ll play a key role in building and maintaining hardened, reproducible Android platform images optimised for secure streaming, scalability, performance, and operational reliability.

The role is highly hands-on and will involve working closely with cloud, networking, platform, security, and streaming engineering teams across the wider organisation.

This is an opportunity to work on genuinely complex platform engineering challenges across Android internals, graphics, Linux systems, containerisation, performance optimisation, and secure infrastructure delivery.

About The Team

You’ll be joining a growing Platform Engineering function responsible for the foundational platforms that power our products and services.

The team works across secure and regulated environments, building scalable cloud-native platforms, secure infrastructure, internal developer tooling, and advanced Android application delivery capabilities.

This role will work closely with senior technical stakeholders across Platform, Cloud, Security, and Product teams and will have significant influence on the future direction of the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain custom AOSP images for containerised Android environments
  • Own and improve Android build pipelines, tooling, signing, and image lifecycle management
  • Develop reproducible, scalable, and secure Android platform builds
  • Work across Android framework, HAL, Linux systems, and container runtime layers
  • Optimise platform performance including boot time, graphics performance, memory usage, and session density
  • Support Android application integration, runtime configuration, and compatibility management
  • Contribute to streaming optimisation, input latency reduction, and media performance improvements
  • Implement and maintain platform security hardening including SELinux policies, attestation, signing, and verification
  • Build tooling for debugging, inspection, automated testing, and operational support
  • Collaborate closely with cloud, networking, platform, and security engineering teams
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and technical direction across the platform domain
  • Produce clear technical documentation and operational runbooks suitable for regulated environments

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • A stable, reproducible, and scalable AOSP build pipeline embedded into engineering workflows
  • Improved platform performance, scalability, and operational reliability
  • Increased confidence in platform security and accreditation readiness
  • Reduced latency and improved end-user streaming experience
  • Clear ownership and lifecycle management across Android image variants
  • Strong collaboration across Platform, Cloud, Security, and Engineering teams
  • Improved tooling, debugging capability, and operational visibility
  • Recognition as a trusted technical authority within the Android platform domain
