Architect – Construction Quality Monitoring (CQM) Lead

We are seeking an Architect to support a significant pipeline of site quality monitoring across a multi-disciplinary team. The role will support our offices (London, Winchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds) in delivering the Construction Quality Monitoring (CQM) Lead function.
The CQM Lead will deliver a quality monitoring service to:
- Identify build quality and workmanship non-compliance
- Monitor and report on health and safety hazards and risks during construction works
The successful candidate will collaborate with our Multi-Disciplinary Design and Building Surveying team and will have opportunities to work across both public and private sectors for similar services.
Responsibilities
- Deliver site quality monitoring roles in the Education sector
- Provide a strong grounding in building technology, including modern methods of construction (MMC)
- Review on-site work for compliance with:
- Contract requirements
- Good working practice
- Manufacturer recommendations
- Manage specialist consultants, including:
- M&E Engineers
- Fire Consultants
- Façade Engineers
- Ensure effective communication, both verbally and in writing, including:
- Accessing and reporting on online information platforms
- Work collaboratively with:
- Other team disciplines
- Site managers
- Supply chain members
- Apply sound construction judgement
- Have familiarity with JCT forms of contract (NEC contractual experience is advantageous but not essential)
- Manage workload independently and take responsibility for:
- Design and tendering of small to medium-value maintenance projects
- Experience in delivering site inspection reports, including use of tablet capture software
- Obtain DBS and basic security clearances for role delivery

Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a relevant construction degree or equivalent qualification
- Be a Chartered Architect
- Have NEC Supervisor or NEC Project Manager accreditation (not essential but beneficial)
- Bring previous experience in a similar role
- Ideally have experience in the Education sector, with deep knowledge of:
- The DfE’s Output Specification
- Part S: Technical Manual
