Architect – Construction Quality Monitoring Lead

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.

We are seeking an Architect to support a significant pipeline of site quality monitoring across a multi-disciplinary team. This role spans our offices in London, Winchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds to deliver the Construction Quality Monitoring (CQM) Lead function.

The CQM Lead will provide quality monitoring services, ensuring compliance with construction standards whilst identifying issues related to build quality, workmanship, health and safety hazards, and risk management during works. The successful candidate will collaborate with our Multi-Disciplinary Design and Building Surveying team, while also having the opportunity to work across both public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver site quality monitoring for projects primarily within the Education sector.
  • Ensure a strong understanding of building technology, including Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
  • Review and inspect construction works against:
    • Contract specifications
    • Good working practices
    • Manufacturer recommendations
  • Manage specialist consultants where necessary, such as:
    • M&E Engineers
    • Fire Safety Consultants
    • Façade Engineers
  • Maintain effective communication, both verbally and in writing, including reporting via online platforms.
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines, site managers, and stakeholders while demonstrating sound construction judgment.
  • Familiarity with JCT forms of contract (NEC forms are not essential but advantageous).
  • Self-manage workload to deliver:
    • Independent assessments
    • On-site inspections for small to medium-value maintenance projects
  • Draft site inspection reports, utilising tablet-based capture software.
  • Clearance requirements include:
    • DBS check
    • Basic security clearance

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
