Senior Architect - Construction Quality Monitoring
Architect – Construction Quality Monitoring Lead

We are seeking an Architect to support a significant pipeline of site quality monitoring across a multi-disciplinary team. This role spans our offices in London, Winchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds to deliver the Construction Quality Monitoring (CQM) Lead function.
The CQM Lead will provide quality monitoring services, ensuring compliance with construction standards whilst identifying issues related to build quality, workmanship, health and safety hazards, and risk management during works. The successful candidate will collaborate with our Multi-Disciplinary Design and Building Surveying team, while also having the opportunity to work across both public and private sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver site quality monitoring for projects primarily within the Education sector.
- Ensure a strong understanding of building technology, including Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
- Review and inspect construction works against:
- Contract specifications
- Good working practices
- Manufacturer recommendations
- Manage specialist consultants where necessary, such as:
- M&E Engineers
- Fire Safety Consultants
- Façade Engineers
- Maintain effective communication, both verbally and in writing, including reporting via online platforms.
- Work collaboratively across disciplines, site managers, and stakeholders while demonstrating sound construction judgment.
- Familiarity with JCT forms of contract (NEC forms are not essential but advantageous).
- Self-manage workload to deliver:
- Independent assessments
- On-site inspections for small to medium-value maintenance projects
- Draft site inspection reports, utilising tablet-based capture software.
- Clearance requirements include:
- DBS check
- Basic security clearance

Requirements
Essential
- Relevant construction degree or equivalent qualification.
- Chartered Architect status.
- Previous experience in a similar role with a focus on quality assurance.
- Knowledge of construction contract compliance (JCT preferred).

Preferred
- NEC Supervisor or NEC Project Manager accreditation.
- Experience in the education sector with:
- Deep familiarity with the DfE’s Output Specification standards.
- Knowledge of the S25 Technical Manual.
