Senior Architect – Expedia B2B

Introduction to the Team
Expedia B2B is the B2B arm of Expedia Group, bringing innovative technology and distribution solutions to partners worldwide. These include:
- Global financial institutions
- Corporate managed travel
- Offline travel agents
- Global travel suppliers (like major airlines)
- And many more
Our Architecture team sits at the intersection of technology strategy and business impact. As a Senior Architect within Expedia B2B, you will:
- Shape the technical direction of our platform
- Bridge complex business challenges with scalable, forward-thinking solutions
- Partner across engineering and product teams to guide decisions that drive outcomes for our global B2B partners
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex, cross-functional technical projects, ensuring alignment with the North Star vision and end-to-end architectural design
- Establish technical approaches, define common patterns and standards, and guide integrations across teams
- Apply systems thinking to analyze issues holistically and recommend policies and processes for efficiency improvements
- Facilitate collaboration among diverse stakeholders to develop solutions for technical and business challenges
- Partner with business stakeholders to tie technology choices to business outcomes and financial impact
- Lead a community of practice, fostering shared learning and knowledge exchange across engineering teams
- Mentor junior architects, developers, and engineers, accelerating their growth with domain and industry expertise
- Report on high-impact initiatives to both technical and business leaders through written/verbal communication
- Drive digital strategy decisions and provide digital business model consulting within IT teams
- Step into peer engineering management responsibilities where needed

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of professional experience in software architecture (with a bachelor’s), or 6+ years (with a master’s)
- Experience leading technical design end-to-end across multiple projects, with an ability to justify technology choices to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working in decentralized, cross-functional teams across at least two multi-quarter projects
- Formal experience mentoring at least three individuals
- Proficiency in multiple technologies/languages, with deep expertise in one technical domain
- Strong understanding of complex systems, integration, and communication patterns across applications, databases, and platforms
- Ability to define and communicate technology standards/patterns across the organization

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent experience
- Active contributions to the engineering community (e.g., blog posts, open-source work, tech talks)
- Experience connecting technical decisions to business outcomes and broader organizational goals
- Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and architectural governance frameworks
